Detailed Itinerary of the 5 Days in Morocco Tour

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

Your journey begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. As you leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind, the scenery begins to change dramatically. You’ll wind through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass at an elevation of 2,260 meters. This scenic drive offers panoramic views, Berber villages clinging to hillsides, and photogenic stops for breathtaking mountain landscapes.

Continue to the UNESCO-listed Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient mudbrick village that looks straight out of a movie set—and for good reason. It’s been featured in blockbuster films like Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. Wander through its narrow alleys and learn about its architectural and cultural importance.

After lunch in a local restaurant overlooking the kasbah, your journey continues through Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Pass through the stunning Valley of Roses, famous for its blooming fields in spring and traditional rosewater distilleries.

By late afternoon, arrive in the scenic Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and fortified villages.

Overnight in a charming guesthouse in Dades Valley.
Meals included: Dinner & breakfast

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga (Sahara Desert)

After breakfast, depart from Dades and drive toward Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most spectacular natural canyons. You’ll have time to walk along the riverbed between the towering 300-meter-high rock walls—a favorite spot for climbers and photographers.

From there, continue through the Saharan pre-desert landscape dotted with palm groves and traditional ksour (fortified villages). Stop in Erfoud, known for its date market and fossil workshops, where you can see ancient marine fossils embedded in the desert stone.

As you reach Merzouga, the edge of the Sahara, switch from your 4×4 to a camel for an unforgettable trek across the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. The ride lasts about an hour, arriving just in time for sunset.

At your luxury desert camp, settle into your private tent equipped with comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. Enjoy mint tea, Moroccan dinner, and live Berber music under the dazzling desert stars.

Overnight in a luxury Sahara camp.
Meals included: Dinner & breakfast

Day 3: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Cedar Forest – Fes

Rise early to watch the magical sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast in camp. Return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, where your driver awaits for the journey north toward Fes.

Drive through the stunning Ziz Valley, a lush ribbon of date palms flanked by reddish rock walls. This is one of the largest oasis valleys in southern Morocco. Continue through the city of Errachidia and on to Midelt, nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you’ll stop for lunch.

As the road winds through forests and small Berber towns, make a stop in the Cedar Forest near Azrou, home to the Barbary macaques, Morocco’s famous wild monkeys. It’s a great chance to stretch your legs and snap some photos.

Arrive in Fes in the late afternoon or early evening, where you’ll be dropped off at your traditional riad within the ancient medina.

Day 4: Full Day to Explore Fes – The Spiritual Capital of Morocco

After breakfast, meet your local expert guide for a private walking tour of the Fes El Bali medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest car-free zones in the world.

Visit the Al Quaraouiyine University, believed to be the world’s oldest still-operating university, as well as the impressive Bou Inania Madrasa, with its stunning zellij tilework and cedar wood carving. Walk through the tanneries of Chouara, where leather has been dyed and crafted for centuries using traditional techniques.

You’ll also explore the Souks (markets) where artisans create pottery, carpets, metal lamps, and more. Along the way, stop by the Fountain Nejjarine, Mellah (Jewish quarter), and Bab Boujloud, the iconic blue gate.
